Serving God Isn’t a Substitute for Loving God

 Do you hear that sound?
It’s the not-too-distant rumblings of an approaching storm. Dark clouds of busyness are beginning to gather over churches and ministries. Ominously, these saturated clouds await the right moment (after Labor Day) to pour down torrential waves of ministry activities on volunteers like you.
Are you ready?
If you’re not intentional and proactive this fall, you could get pulled into the flashflood of ministry busyness… while your love relationship with God gets washed away.
So, before you jump into the rising and swift currents of activities this fall (as fun and exhilarating as that can be), I want to remind you that the best thing you can do for God, your family, yourself, the church, and the ministry you serve is to first take care of your love relationship with God. Why? Because if you keep your love relationship with God strong and healthy, then your heart will overflow God’s power, purpose, and presence into your volunteer ministry.
This fall, proactively take the ride of deepening your love life with Jesus… don’t get taken for a ride by programs and activities. Serving God isn’t a substitute for loving God.
